F5 Backup Config doesn't backup partitions

If the F5 config uses partitions, this activity does not output any of the configuration in those partitions, only the base config.

This was raised a while ago (2014) as an issue with NCM, so it may be you have a fix in that product which could be used?

Getting "No available encryption algorithms match with server....." error

I recently installed two brand new Cisco Nexus 9Ks at a Datacenter. whenever i add them to solarwinds, it gives me the "No available encryption algorithms match with server....." error and i can't get it to back up the configurations. Please keep in mind that we have a lot of 5Ks, 3Ks, and 7Ks in various DCs with no issues at all. It's just these new 9Ks.

please note the following:

- I can ping the devices from cattools so I can reach them

- I am using SSH2 on both the 9Ks and cattools, so it's not an ssh mismatch

Is there anything I'm missing here? Does anyone have any insight as to what the issue may be?

Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author.

Kiwi Cattools is stopping after trying to execute it.  Error windows pops up with message: "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."

Tried to unistall and reinstall the product (Kiwi CatTools 3.4.0) without success.  CatTools has been running since years without any problems, until now.  Probably some other recently (automatic) installed application or service is the cause, but I am not able to identify; I have installed nothing new for the last weeks.

Any help or advise is appreciated... thanks

Backup Device Config for Vyatta

We are looking to backup the configurations of a bunch of Vyatta type routers, same as we do for our Cisco routers.  We went plowing through the custom scripts and device documentation and aren't getting very far.  Since the Device.Backup.Running Config activity can backup different types of devices using different commands, it would appear that in the device would where the "show config" commands would be set up.  However, the Custom.Device.Template.txt.custom "script" has a lot more info that we are looking for and then it appears you have to bind together a main and client activity to the custom device?  We are just looking to have something exactly the same as Device.Backup.Running Config activity that will issue a "show configuration commands" for Vyatta instead of "show running-config" for Cisco.  We don't want to learn a new language to write scripts with and if we did, we wouldn't be paying over $200 per year for maintenance as we would then be writing our own software.

Is there a simple way to modify the backup running config activity to be able to work with Vyatta routers?

Thanks much

Did not receive expected response to command: show running-config

I have a question, I have 2 Cisco WiSM  (Cisco 6500 blade) that I am trying to use Cat tools to backup the config files on a regular schedule. I have run into the following error when trying to run the activity:  "Did not receive expected response to command: configshow" and then Cat tools disconnects from the switch. I used telnet to issue the show running-config command and what I noticed is right after the show running-config command is issued the switch prompts with: "Press Enter to continue or <CTRL-Z> to abort"  or "--More-- or (q)uit " and sits there until there is user intervension. How can I automate the CR to continue command so I can use Cattools to pull the configuration of these switches? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

HP Procurve Switches - Compare running startup activity

It would be great if you could add compare report activities on HP switches.

It should not be a big development as device is already supported with backup running configuration. All should be done is to adapt the command and the start of the startup configuration capture.

Command : show config

Output Result :

Startup configuration:

; ModelNumber Configuration Editor; Created on release #FirmwareVersion

Can CatTools backup configs for Brocade switches?

I have used CatTools in the past to backup Cisco switch/router configs and I'd like to use it to backup Brocade ICX and FCX switch configs.  It looks likes the software supports "backup running config" but not "backup config TFTP".  I don't understand the differences between the two categories.  Can someone explain?

Backup Config of Checkpoint Gateway

$

Hi Thwack community,

this is my first discussion

We are having some troubles with "Checkpoint Security Gateway" Devices. Because there is no suitable Device-Template for those devices i used the Generic.Device combined with a Device Variation to backup the Running Configuration.

Device Details: Check Point Security Gateway using Gaia R77.20 as OS, Kiwi Cattools 3.6.0

I always try to copy the manual steps i would do via putty/SSH to cattools. Those manual steps would be:

  1. login via ssh
  2. "lock database override" //get prev. rights
  3. "show configuration" //running config gets printed to stdout with paging (-- More --) -> as fas as i know there is no ter len 0/ no paging command
  4. quit or exit

Somehow cattools is having some problems with those steps :/

It isn´t getting input from the "show configuration" command which should print to stdout "Did not receive echo of show configuration command".

I attached you the log-info File and the Device variations so you could get a look into the changes i made.

Has anyone ever had similar problems (and a solution to it)? Especially with Checkpoint Devices?

Best regards,

Max

Hi my friends,

I am running Cattools version 3.6.0, now I am trying to backup the running configuration a HP Procurve 2530 switch. I have tried to enter some combinations of values under the "Passwords" and "Prompts" tab, but always prompted error messages. Can someone show me what value should I set under "Passwords" and "Prompts" tabs?  Below I will show you how I telnet to this switch via command prompt. Thanks in advance!

Can the latest RC of Cattools perform config backups on Cisco Small Business SG300 switches? We are having a hard time getting this working over SSH with TACACS.

Brocade 6430 switch - Kiwi CatTools - Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH

I can't figure out why this isn't working:

Scenario:SSH is configured on switch and works via SecureCRT

In Kiwi, SSH username and password is filled in.

Intital login requires username/password is selected.

For the purposes of troubleshooting, I cleared all the Prompts.  I had tried various permutations.

Here is the debug file.  Please help me understand what I am doing wrong....

Cattols 3.10 to FortiOS 5.2.5 or 5.4 doesn´t work

$

Hi,

since we upgraded to FortiOS 5.2.5 or 5.4 Cattools gives us the error message "Failed to connect to XXX. Reason: No respone from remote host. Will try again."

If we connect to it with Putty we get a session.

Have debugged the SSH from FortiOS but no error messages is shown.

The debug in Cattools doesn´t give any errors either:

<NEWSESSION CatTools 3.10.0 2016-01-15 08:41:31>

<PROTOCOL=SSH2>

<DEVICE TYPE=Fortinet.FortiOS.General>

<ACTIVITY TYPE=Device.Backup.Running Config>

<ACTIVITY SCRIPT=D:\Program Files (x86)\CatTools3\Scripts\Client.Device.Backup.Running Config.txt>

<USERS NAME FOR DEVICE=nbo-osd2fw01>

<D 13:48:31>

<SCRIPT VALUES>

<HOSTNAME="">

<PROMPT VTY="">

<PROMPT ENABLE="">

<PROMPT CONFIG="">

We have tried all different SSH ciphers but with the same result. When we save the ciphers we can see that it sends it to the FortiOS and that it accept it.

Any ideas?

Robin

Hi, in the Cattool backup report, I am getting the below message from some of the equipment in the network:

"Connect failed:(10061) The requested connection has been refused by the remote host."

Please let me know if there is any necessary initial configuration on the Cisco equipment in order for the Cattools to be able to perform a successfull backup.

Thanks,

Switch faied to connect (10061)

Hi

I have only recently started a new position and am new to Kiwi Cat tools which this organisation uses, (Used Solar Winds before)

Any help or assistance would be greatfully appreciated.

Just installed a new Cisco 3650 switch and Cisco 4331 Router at a new site and trying to configure Kiwi to back this up.

Keep getting the error 'failed to connect to x.x,x,x Reason (10061) The requested connection has been refused by the remote host on the switch, router works fine and backs up on Kiwi.

I have checked the config on the 3650 switch and it has the same log in details as the 4331 router at the site that is working on Kiwi

The Kiwi version that I am using is VER 3.11.2 Enterprise

The switch version is 03.06.04.E

I have also been asked to look at and resolve all the back up errors or Kiwi, Is there a downloadable Kiwi pdf that someone can post a link to and also a list of error codes

Thank you in advance.

The Kiwi CatTools service terminated unexpectedly.

Hey guys,

recently, our Kiwi CatTools Service crashes. This occurs randomly, we could not find the reason so far. We did not do any changes, except maybe changing an ip address or stuff.

The Windows Log sais the following:

System: The Kiwi CatTools service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 5 time(s).

Applic.: Faulting application CatTools_Service.exe, version 3.3.0.17, faulting module KiwiTFTP.dll, version 2.2.0.0, fault address 0x0000c98c.            or:

            Faulting application CatTools_Service.exe, version 3.3.0.17, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

Steps to resolve this issue:

- delete all devices, we don't need anymore (we have more than 100 devices)

- shrink the database

- reinstall kiwi cattools 3.3.17

- check timings of the jobs

- searched google and thwack for known issues

If you guys could help me that would be great, thx for your help. Maybe someone has similar problems. Maybe some recent Windows updates cause this error?

Thanks much
