Did not receive expected response to conf t command!

Hi again! As you requested, I've made a new theme with my question. What kind of diagnostics you need from me?

I have the same question as flexible, I have 2 Cisco IOS switches 2960 (first firmware version is 12.2(50)SE5 and another 12.2(58)SE2) when I am trying to use "Device.CLI.Send commands" in Cat tools the switch, which have 12.2(50)SE5 version make all commands correctly, but when running activity  on another(12.2(58)SE2):  "Did not receive expected response to command: conf t" and after that Cat tools stops activity. I used putty(ssh2) as a terminal in cattools.

P.S. I apologize for my English, if something not right written^^

Thanks!

I am using generic router.

here is the dubug

I believe the problem starts when it starts to wait (WFMDRetVal=1 Waiting for: ":")

it does not have to wait but it should end/exit and save the configuration as all the configuration is already displayed above

why is it searching for " " ---- WFMDBuffer=" "

Kiwi CatTools and Checkpoint R80.10

Hello,

Recently we upgraded our CHeckpoint firewalls from R77.30 to R80.10.

Since then we cannot create backups of the firewall configuration with Cattools (v3.11.4), we receive  an error: "Connect failed:(30044) No available encryption algorithms match with the server."

This is probably because checkpoint has disabled Diffie-Helman-sha1 as stated in the following post:

https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk110518&partition=General&product=All%22

Is it possible to make CatTools work with a newer algorithm?

Thanks in advance.

Connect failed:(30044) No   available encryption algorithms match with the server.

Thanks in advance

Hi all,

We have installed new Cisco 2960 switch in our building to replace the old faulty one.

When trying to backup the config using CatTools, I am getting the error "Connect failed:(30044) No available encryption algorithms match with the server."

The config is identical to the old switch. Is there something else that I need to configure on the switch for the CatTools to backup the config?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you require more info.

Cheers,

Vig.

Can the latest RC of Cattools perform config backups on Cisco Small Business SG300 switches? We are having a hard time getting this working over SSH with TACACS.

CISCO WLC 5508 Transfer Upload Start

Whenever i try to run a Device.Backup.TFTP on any of my 5508 wireless LAN controllers i get the following error 'Did not receive expected response to command: transfer upload start' I suspect that this issue is caused by a timeout, as whenever i run this task manually it takes around 2 minutes to complete the TFTP transfer. To overcome this i used the following alternative list of commands:

config paging disable

transfer upload mode tftp

transfer upload datatype config

transfer upload serverip *.*.*.*

transfer upload path /

transfer upload filename %ctDeviceName.txt

%ctUM: Timeout 150

transfer upload start

These settings remove the error although cause another problem - it stops cattools from comparing the newly transferred file and the existing file on the disk. The ending result leaves the newly transferred file sitting in the TFTP directory. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Scheduling timer not starting on restart

Hi,

I am having trouble get the activity scheduling time to start on machine boot.

I have Cattools running as a service and that starts fine if the machine is rebooted.

However the scheduling timer doesn't start even though I have checked the appropriate box on the "misc" tab ( "Option" and "setup") so I am having to start it manually everytime.

Anybody got any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

Script for HP/H3C Switches

Hi!

I'm trying to backup the config of our new HP (H3C) Switches (5120, 5800, 10500). The script I created out of the Custom.Template is not working. The prompt of the switches is "<SWITCHNAME>", not "SWITCHNAME>" as in Ciscos IOS. So the script returns the error "Did not receive expected prompt when entering Enable mode".

Has anybody managed to create a script that works with the HP H3C switches?

Backup Config of Checkpoint Gateway

$

Hi Thwack community,

this is my first discussion

We are having some troubles with "Checkpoint Security Gateway" Devices. Because there is no suitable Device-Template for those devices i used the Generic.Device combined with a Device Variation to backup the Running Configuration.

Device Details: Check Point Security Gateway using Gaia R77.20 as OS, Kiwi Cattools 3.6.0

I always try to copy the manual steps i would do via putty/SSH to cattools. Those manual steps would be:

  1. login via ssh
  2. "lock database override" //get prev. rights
  3. "show configuration" //running config gets printed to stdout with paging (-- More --) -> as fas as i know there is no ter len 0/ no paging command
  4. quit or exit

Somehow cattools is having some problems with those steps :/

It isn´t getting input from the "show configuration" command which should print to stdout "Did not receive echo of show configuration command".

I attached you the log-info File and the Device variations so you could get a look into the changes i made.

Has anyone ever had similar problems (and a solution to it)? Especially with Checkpoint Devices?

Best regards,

Max

Kiwi Cattools 3.9.1 config backup with Cisco

$

Dear community,

I am currently trying to configure Kiwi Cattools v3.9.1 (no Solarwinds support any more) to back up our Cisco devices' running config. The backup from some devices work without problem, from some other devices Kiwi cannot back up the config (routers and switches).

The network settings (routing, firewall rules etc) are correct because we use an additional type of activity (Device.CLI.Send.commands) with the affected devices which works properly.

When running a Device.Backup.Runinng.Config activity against the devices, two things happen:

- The activity finishes with the following error for all the specified devices and the config is not backed up at all:

"Unable to log to Debug file. Error: Bad file name or number"

- The activity finishes without error, Kiwi confirms the backup with "Backup Running Config results: OK" for all specified devices, I see in the mail queue that the e-mail has been queued and contains an attachment (HTML report about the activity's result) but not all the configs have been backed up locally into the specified folder (C:/Shares) and the e-mail does not list all the devices as backed up. After enabling debug mode, I can see that Kiwi logs in to all the devices, backs up the configs and disconnects from the devices successfully, so it seems that the activity has been finished successfully but the config files from some of the devices are missing at the end.

At this point, I received the following error message for these devices:

"Log to file error: Bad file name or numberC:\Program Files(x86)\CatTools3\ClientTemp\RunningConfig.[device_name].temp.txt"                         note: device_name is hidden in the message

The missing files are from the same devices until I change the name of the problematic devices in Kiwi. When that happens, Kiwi does not drop the previous error message any more for the device but does not bac kup the config at all.

I tried to change the hostname on one problematic device as well but it did not help -> no backed up config.

The Kiwi service has also been restarted, it did not help.

By now I could not find any solution on the web nor any reference to any Cattools bug.

Do you have any idea? Maybe some bug in v3.9.1? Do you know any solution?

Thank you for the help in advance.

When I run 'Check for update' from the Help menu, I receive the error message "Unable to check for update... Product update checking has been disabled."

How can I enable product update checking so I can run automatic updates for CatTools?  I'm currently running version 3.11.3.

I have scoured the discussion threads and haven't found one that works for my situation.

I am trying to SSH2 into an Aruba switch stack using the following settings:

In the helps I have seen, it says to make changes in the variations section of the settings, but the Aruba.ArubaOS.General device type doesn't have that.

Any help would be appreciated.
