Hi,

We have several cisco small business switches that we would like to get backed up. The error we are seeing after adding the first switch and running a config back up

"did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH"

Any recommendations on what we are missing are greatly appreciated.

When connecting via SSH we are seeing the following prompts

Thanks

Kiwi Syslog Web Access Timing Out when fetching events or additional pages

I'm currenlty having issues while in Web Access with fetching events.  Sometimes I'm able to go from page to page just fine and other times I'm receiving "The request to the server timed out."  I also receive the time out message when attempting to filter my logs. I'm currently running 1 Kiwi Syslog server on a Windows 2k3 server using SQL Server 2005 Express on a ESX server and have 4GB of RAM allocated to this machine along with 4 processor cores.  There are 30 servers forward their log subscriptions to my Syslog server.  The rest of the syslog server works great except for the Web Access portion timing out.  Any ideas?

So we want to convert this process automatically with the help of kiwicat tool. However I am getting error message while take backup through tool which is listed below.

Reason (30012) Protocol version mismatch error.. Giving up after 3 connection attempts"

Could you please let me know if I have wrongly configured this or having this error due to any other reason.

Version of tool is 3.6.0 which I believe is latest one.

Please let me know if you require any other information to dig out the problem.

Linux Jump Server

Greetings,

I'm attempting to backup our devices that are accessible via a Linux server and according to the CatTools help section, sited bellow,  under "Connect via" this should be achievable:

For example, if your device is behind an access list, but a Linux box has access to that device, you can connect via the Linux box first, then launch a telnet or SSH session to the destination device from there.

So looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/IFoVOYz.png

And it's obvious looking at the debug log that when the back connects to the Linux server there are no issue, it's from the Linux to the Cisco device there is an issue and it appear that issue is with the ssh command it's passing:

-8:55:20 PM>ssh -2 -l  x.x.x.x

<R-8:55:20 PM>ssh -2 -l  x.x.x.x

<W-8:55:20 PM>[13]

<R-8:55:20 PM>[13][10]usage: ssh [-1246AaCfgKkMNnqsTtVvXxYy] [-b bind_address] [-c cipher_spec][13][10]

<W-5:41:52 PM>ssh -2 -l  x.x.x.x

<R-5:41:52 PM>ssh -2 -l  x.x.x.x

<W-5:41:52 PM>[13]

It's attempting to use a Cisco ssh command and not a a Linux/Bash ssh syntax which looks like this username@<IP Address>

Am I missing something in the config?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Running ERS 4900 swtich stacks with CatTools. Everything was working great for awhile until we needed to upgrade one of our stacks from version 7.2.0.009 to 7.6.0.007 due to an unrelated issue. The switch is definitely running SSH. I did notice that connecting directly with the 'Telnet/SSH' button from the devices menu did not work and had a similar error. To resolve this, I had to update PuTTY to the newest version. Now that PuTTY is updated, this option now works however, i am still getting the same error with CatTools.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

How can I configure Cat Tools to connect to Dell SSH?

$

I am attempting to configure Cat Tools to backup some of our Dell PowerConnect 5548s running-configs over SSH, however I am running into problems when initiating the SSH session. Since the Dell SSH on the appliance is built on top of Telnet, it prompts for a useless field "Login as:" before asking for the local username and password. This first field has no effect on whether or not you can authenticate to the device.

I cannot find a way to put in a carriage return or line-feed command to make the session continue to the "Username: " prompt.

I apologize for my sentence structure on this post.

Cheers,

Stefan

Backup Extreme Summit switches using TFTP commands

Hi, We have just installed some extreme switches and currently
it is backing up using model X450-24X running the show configuration command.

We are wanting to run the following below command and wondered whether this
would be possible if we had a variations file and running a TFTP server on
server where cat tools is installed.

tftp put x.x.x.x vr "VR-Default"primary.cfg **Saved file name***.cfg

The above command makes it easier to restore configs if we were to have issues.

We tried running Device.Backup.TFTP activity but it currently only supports Cisco Devices.

Thanks

Fortinet backup to tftp: not able to overwrite existing file

Hello everybody.

I've set up tftp backups of some of my Fortigate firewalls. The first backup runs OK, but the subsequent ones will fail because of "Error code 2: Access violation". I've played a bit with it and it seems that it cannot overwrite the already existing backup file in the TFTP folder.

Anybody knows how to solve this?

The Kiwi CatTools Service is run by "Local System account".

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

F.

Backup Config of Checkpoint Gateway

$

Hi Thwack community,

this is my first discussion

We are having some troubles with "Checkpoint Security Gateway" Devices. Because there is no suitable Device-Template for those devices i used the Generic.Device combined with a Device Variation to backup the Running Configuration.

Device Details: Check Point Security Gateway using Gaia R77.20 as OS, Kiwi Cattools 3.6.0

I always try to copy the manual steps i would do via putty/SSH to cattools. Those manual steps would be:

  1. login via ssh
  2. "lock database override" //get prev. rights
  3. "show configuration" //running config gets printed to stdout with paging (-- More --) -> as fas as i know there is no ter len 0/ no paging command
  4. quit or exit

Somehow cattools is having some problems with those steps :/

It isn´t getting input from the "show configuration" command which should print to stdout "Did not receive echo of show configuration command".

I attached you the log-info File and the Device variations so you could get a look into the changes i made.

Has anyone ever had similar problems (and a solution to it)? Especially with Checkpoint Devices?

Best regards,

Max

Cisco WLC Device.Backup.TFTP Not working

When I try to run a job on my Cisco WLC's using Device.Backup.TFTP I receive no error, but when I go to the directory where the backups should be I find no files.

I tried running a Device.CLI.Send.Commands and I received the following error: "Aborting command entry due to command error".  The command i tried running was "show run".

Also this process used to work, but now all of a sudden it stopped working.

KiwiCat tools version 3.4

WLC IOS 7.0.230.0

Thanks for your help in advance.

config backup failing on HP switch

We are running CaTTools 3.11 for backing up several of our Cisco switches and it is working great.  However, we also have a bunch of HP switches that we are also trying to use CaTTools with but I'm having trouble getting it working...

Started trying on a HP J9827a switch with 4 cards in it.

I've messed around with the different HP switch options including "other" and the variations...

From the debug log it looks to me like its dumping all the commands early not waiting for the prompts.  How do I make it wait for the appropriate parts?

we dont have logins setup and that is all unchecked in the setup...

What am I missing? (debug below)
