Config Backups of Cisco Small Business SG200-50

$

Hi

Has anyone been able to get an automated backup of the 200 series small business switches. I noted that there seems to be scripts for the SG300 but not the SG200.

Is there a reason that the SG200's don't work with Cattools?

Thanks

Matt

Fortigate, kiwi cattools saying new config each run

Hello

I have installed a trial version of Kiwi Cat Tools (v3.11) and looking at backing up Fortigate machines.  All is well, except poll, it is saying the configuration has changed.  Lines in Red are like this:

set schedule "always"         set schedule "always"100
101         set passphrase ENC FPdfLnnIwhD9LIHCoJfoyfoQGgNeiUyxr4RVSUwMGNFZsQwWDLKcPB5Eqejqh0ePFYGWDCjySMNVqva2vF4nPNn0WMWDoMRdX0TpDwaayNtjNuREAT3sNpVb39QLZIe2D4oAHu1Osu139qZf9+eQ0XfLfsUffmCFwRJNJ2tsQTeFfhOpmbc7wUj0Fl9D/uluALmIgA==         set passphrase ENC xRTcqKb2BSw02VEPiVz2nCqtl9Mq324cD9BBTwOT3/8j+OlRdkxorhfjLA6c0WMxLpkG362DCi0LApyZO4k84hVk2wi/MEn7wA/sEc+18uBueTGMuP+yjLdAm7IrvrgbR6cqIyeainCDs8IGNBumpCX1gv29+gnfK8BFZRcBKymbz/eiyJpZatRKH6zqTCkPGmiP+Q==101

I gather it is the fortigate that is changing as these are different every run.  How do I get the CatTools to ignore these changes.

Support for IOS XE? config is failing to be captured

$

I just got the product installed and my first device configured but its failing to capture the configuration (it's an ASR running IOS-XE).

I have 1 activity configured: Device.Backup.Running Config

For the device, I configured the type as Cisco.Router.noenable. I initially tried Cisco.Router.General but it kept complaining about "Enable password prompt returned" which would be incorrect since there is no enable option on this router.  I don't get that error with Cisco.Router.noenable but it fails to capture the configuration.

The config file shows this:

show config
                     ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

This is odd because I can issue the command manually and it works.  Seems like there are some unprinted character after "config", given that a typical "invalid input" marker is spaced appropriately to point to the first invalid input character and there are 20 spaces before the ^ in the output.

The activity log show this when using noenable :

Backup Config of Checkpoint Gateway

$

Hi Thwack community,

this is my first discussion

We are having some troubles with "Checkpoint Security Gateway" Devices. Because there is no suitable Device-Template for those devices i used the Generic.Device combined with a Device Variation to backup the Running Configuration.

Device Details: Check Point Security Gateway using Gaia R77.20 as OS, Kiwi Cattools 3.6.0

I always try to copy the manual steps i would do via putty/SSH to cattools. Those manual steps would be:

  1. login via ssh
  2. "lock database override" //get prev. rights
  3. "show configuration" //running config gets printed to stdout with paging (-- More --) -> as fas as i know there is no ter len 0/ no paging command
  4. quit or exit

Somehow cattools is having some problems with those steps :/

It isn´t getting input from the "show configuration" command which should print to stdout "Did not receive echo of show configuration command".

I attached you the log-info File and the Device variations so you could get a look into the changes i made.

Has anyone ever had similar problems (and a solution to it)? Especially with Checkpoint Devices?

Best regards,

Max

problem in config mode on HP switch

$

Hi forum users,

I was playing with the demo version and it came to my attention that Cattools only lists the 2600 series of HP switches. We also use the 5400 and 8200 series. It seems to work also.

I am writing this because of a small problem I cannot trace. I have no problem logging on to my HP 2610 switch. Also when in "enabled" mode I can run all switch commands. The problem is when I want to go into "config" mode on the switch strange things happen.

As a test I did the following:
In the CLI option box I scripted the following HP commands:

config
no vlan 60
vlan 60
name nuwerkthet
exit
wr mem
exit
exit
exit
y

This script go's into config mode and deletes vlan 60. After that it constructs vlan 60 with the name "nuwerkthet". Then an exit and a WRite MEMory command. Than I exit the switch and logout.

When looking at the Info log I keep receiving the message "Did not receive expected response to XXXXXXXXXX. It also takes the script very long to finish. (about 5 min.).

The script does not end (logout) and wants to start again. I then abort it by hand.

When looking at log text I see the commands stated before my prompt name. Is this normal? I would think it should come after the prompt. (see log file below).

configFERRY_werkplek(config)#
vlan 60FERRY_werkplek(vlan-60)#
name testvlanFERRY_werkplek(vlan-60)#
exitFERRY_werkplek(config)#
wr memFERRY_werkplek(config)#
exit
exitFERRY_werkplek>
exitDo you want to log out [y/n]? y

After ending the script I found that my command was written to the switch. So it did work. But I think something is not right. Can anyone inform me about this problem?

Thank you.

We are using Cat Tools 3.4 demo version and tried to configure the switch for configuraton backup using Method SSH2.
And using Device.Backup.Running Config  Type and SSH Username/Password are supplied. When Run the backup it shows the errors:

Script for HP/H3C Switches

Hi!

I'm trying to backup the config of our new HP (H3C) Switches (5120, 5800, 10500). The script I created out of the Custom.Template is not working. The prompt of the switches is "<SWITCHNAME>", not "SWITCHNAME>" as in Ciscos IOS. So the script returns the error "Did not receive expected prompt when entering Enable mode".

Has anybody managed to create a script that works with the HP H3C switches?

Aruba 3810M stack - Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH

Hi, I want to backup an Aruba switchstack and received this error message.

I created the device as Generic.Device and tried a lot of different combinations of Prompts and variations but I always get "Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH".

What are the correct settings to backup an Aruba Switch?

Here the message I get, depending on the configuration it slightly changes:

We are using cattools to back up Cisco and Nortel devices with no issue.

We have some cisco routers situated in firewalls that we would like to

back up. These routers are accesed through Digi terminal servers. The normal Cisco script seems to fail because we may need to send an extra CR to wake up port.

How can I configure Cat Tools to connect to Dell SSH?

$

I am attempting to configure Cat Tools to backup some of our Dell PowerConnect 5548s running-configs over SSH, however I am running into problems when initiating the SSH session. Since the Dell SSH on the appliance is built on top of Telnet, it prompts for a useless field "Login as:" before asking for the local username and password. This first field has no effect on whether or not you can authenticate to the device.

I cannot find a way to put in a carriage return or line-feed command to make the session continue to the "Username: " prompt.

I apologize for my sentence structure on this post.

Cheers,

Stefan

Aborting command entry due to command error

I have a problem with a device in configuration mode.

I try to apply 2 commands and one is applied ok, the 2nd one does not seem to work.

Here's the sequence:

Waiting for command prompt

Waiting for an echo of system-view command

Waiting for an echo of super command

Waiting for an echo of acl number 2003

[Then a 33 second pause]

Stopping Activity.

Here are the 2 commands

acl number 2003

rule 110 permit source 10.209.127.174 0

Here's what it looks like when I paste it into the device

[sysname-1]acl number 2003

Info: When the ACL that is referenced by SACL is modified, the SACL will be dynamically updated. During the update, these SACL will become invalid temporarily.

[sysname-1]rule 110 permit source 10.209.127.174 0

Cattools and Juniper EX-Switches

$

Hello Team,

I started evaluating Juniper Switches EX-4200/4500 with Kiwi Cattools V3.7. Download Configs seems to work fine via telnet.

However, the activities "send commands" or "modify config" does not work due to syntax errors.

Example:

command: show version -> The following command is invalid: show version

Manually login to the box with same telnet user and same command works fine.

I selected Juniper Router as device because no switches are currently available and Junos OS syntax is quite

similar for Juniper Routers and EX-Switches.

I saw in the Catttools supported device list Juniper Routers also for "send commands".

Any Idea, if that should work ? Do I miss something ?

best regards

Alfred

When will CatTools support modifying Juniper EX switch configs?

$

The subject pretty much says it all.  I was hoping to already be able to use CatTools to send simple one-line command strings to my Juniper EX switches but it seems determined to think of them as Cisco devices with the commands I see it trying to send - even though I've told it these are Juniper devices, and chosen Juniper Routers as the device type.  I know these are switches and not routers, but the CLI is essentially the same for both types of devices.  Is there anyone out there who's already been down this road and reached a successful destination?  If so, I would SO love to hear from you about it!!

Thanks in advance
