F5 Backup Config doesn't backup partitions

$

If the F5 config uses partitions, this activity does not output any of the configuration in those partitions, only the base config.

This was raised a while ago (2014) as an issue with NCM, so it may be you have a fix in that product which could be used?

I am using generic router.

here is the dubug

set traffic-policy rate-control RATE-10Mbps bandwidth '10mbps'[27][m[13][10][13][27][K[27][?1l[27]>Myrouter@TB-B1-FW1:~$ (All output is correct till here, problem starts from the next line)

<R-1:08:38 PM> (I think here it just have to exit and save)

================================================================================
WFMDRetVal=1 Waiting for: ":" (problem starts here) why waiting when all the configuration is already displayed above
WFMDRetVal=2 Waiting for: "% Invalid input detected at"
WFMDRetVal=3 Waiting for: "% Incomplete command"
WFMDRetVal=4 Waiting for: "(y/n)"
WFMDRetVal=18 Waiting for: "TB-B1-FW1:~$"

<HOSTNAME="TB-B1-FW1:~$">

<PROMPT ENABLE="TB-B1-FW1:~$">
<PROMPT CONFIG="">

I believe the problem starts when it starts to wait (WFMDRetVal=1 Waiting for: ":")

it does not have to wait but it should end/exit and save the configuration as all the configuration is already displayed above

why is it searching for " " ---- WFMDBuffer=" "

Hello,

I want to use a Windows Server as a hop to connect to a few junipers. If i start the job to backup the device i get the following error message: Failed to determine hostname - no CR or LF. If i connect via Putty to the Windows Server, all works fine and i can Log in and can type some commands. Log in via CatTools works fine but then i get the error message above.

Device Settings:

Device Type: Cisco.Router.General

no variations or prompt settings currently set

Username and Password is set correctly

I can´t customize the prompt from the windows server, so i need to get it work with the normal Windows CMD prompt.

I´ve set a few prompt settings in Kiwi CatTools but nothing works.

I hope you can help me in this Case.

Windows OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

SSH Client/Server: FreeSSHd

Kiwi CatTools Version: 3.10

Thank you for your help.

How to define login parameters for CatTools v3.4 for Cisco wlc 5508?

Hello,

I'm trying to setup new device, Cisco WLC 5508.  I'm not having success when defining the credentials under the password and prompt tabs.  For our installation, via ssh the wlc 5508 controller prompts for 3 parms:

  1) login as:

  2) user:

  3) password:

Under the password tab I have defined the credentials for #2 & #3 above to match ssh username & ssh password.  I'm not sure how to map #1 above.   Under the prompts tab I defined #2 and #3 above to Username prompt and Password prompt.

thanks,

james

Device.Backup.Running Config fails on WRT54GL v1.1

Hardware: Cisco WRT54GL v1.1 with DD-WRT firmware dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin. SNMP enabled on the router and I can successfully telnet into the router using PuTTY.

CatTools Device Information:

Device Type: Cisco.Router.General

Group: Default

Name: Cisco Router 1

Host Address: 192.168.1.1

File Name: Cisco_Router_1

Model: Other

Connect via: Direct connect

Method: Telnet

Port: 23

Problem: I need  away to control a variety of routers (the WRT54GL is one of them) in a lab environment changing their SSID, encryption scheme et al. Solarwinds Kiwi CatTools was recommended as a potential solution. The notion being control the router via CLI commands or a series of custom configurations. When evaluating the product I tried performing the Device.Backup.Running Config operation. I continually get the error "Failed to receive 'Current configuration' line in device config file".  I reveice the same error when running Device.Backup.TFTP

I am a bit new to this. Is there something obvious I've missed?

Cattools 3.10

I'm trying to back up a Dell DR4100 using Telnet, and after changing Username prompt: to login: it will connect ok, but it fails to back up, with error message Aborting: Unable to enter enable mode.

There doesn't appear to be an enable mode for this device. Can I bypass this bit?

Thanks,

Jenny

Orion NPM syslog and Kiwi acquisition

$

I read about the plans to integrate kiwi into NPM; sounds great.  I need to monitor event logs on windows servers.  My understanding is that the event log forwarder will send my entire event log to my NPM box, which I don't want to do.  But I do want to alarm when certain events pop up on a windows host, especially from within APM.  Currently I can not define exactly which events I want to send to my Orion syslog server.

1) Am I correct in thinking that kiwi will give me granular control over which events go to Orion?

2) Is there currently any integration between the two products that can help me do this now?

3) What is the roadmap for full integration with Kiwi and what will be some of the high level features that will be added to NPM?  Will it tie into APM?

thankful to all

Feature Request: Send Initial Carriage Return

$

It would be nice to have a "send initial carriage return" device option.  This would be especially useful when connecting to a device attached to a terminal server.  For example, when CatTools connects to the console port of Cisco switch (Cisco Switch IOS device type) via a Lantronix terminal server a CR is required to start sending data - i.e. receive a username/password prompt.  I know support has created custom device scripts for customers, but this feature may solve a lot of those issues.

Thanks,

John

Backup HP V1910 (Legacy 3Com 2928) switch

I am trying to backup this switch using the Device.CLI.Send activity.  Here is what I am trying to send:

Login authentication

Username:xxxx
Password:
<Raben Tire IT Switch>_cmdline-mode on
All commands can be displayed and executed. Continue? [Y/N]y

Please input password:******
Warning: Now you enter an all-command mode for developer's testing, some commands may affect operation by wrong use, please carefully use it with our engineer's direction.
<Raben Tire IT Switch>backup startup-configuration to 10.21.1.13
Backup next startup-configuration file to 10.21.1.13, please wait...
finished!
<Raben Tire IT Switch>quit

I get to the input of the password and get a syntax error.  Since I get a syntax error there, the rest of the script never runs, it also gets a syntax error.  How do I input a password at that point?

Thanks,
Jeff

Backing up F5 BIGIP UCS archive

Does anybody know if there is a way to backup the UCS archive on the BIGIP's, I think the current template in CatTools only backs up the config file. You really need the UCS archive to be able to restore devices properly.

Many thanks

Hi my friends,

I am running Cattools version 3.6.0, now I am trying to backup the running configuration a HP Procurve 2530 switch. I have tried to enter some combinations of values under the "Passwords" and "Prompts" tab, but always prompted error messages. Can someone show me what value should I set under "Passwords" and "Prompts" tabs?  Below I will show you how I telnet to this switch via command prompt. Thanks in advance!

From command prompt, I key in  telnet 10.x.x.x, then press enter, then I see below page

I key in manager, and press enter, then I am prompted to enter password.

Hi there,

I'd like an example of a Kiwi cattools activity script to make a UCS backup of a F5 device.

Best,

Cisco SF-300 Backup Problem- Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH

Hello,

I am pretty new in Kiwi CatTools so don't expect much.

The switch i wanted to back-up is the Cisco.SmallBusiness SF-300-24PP.

I keep getting this error;

'' Did not receive command prompt after connecting via SSH ''

Palo Alto Backup Comapre, generates differences and TFTP backup issue.

using the standard backup command in CATTOOLS we get the "SET" style backup. This seems to report the backup being different some times.

I am trying to do full XML backups instead using TFTP, but despite being reported as compatible with TFTP backup in HELP, the job says

"no default commands available for this device"

If I enter the palo alto command

"tftp export configuration from running-config.xml to 192.168.1.1"

It errors on requiring "%ctDeviceName" Variable.

but there is no variable for the output file name in the Palo Alto command..

Seems Palo is not supported correctly after all?

Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author.

Kiwi Cattools is stopping after trying to execute it.  Error windows pops up with message: "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."

Tried to unistall and reinstall the product (Kiwi CatTools 3.4.0) without success.  CatTools has been running since years without any problems, until now.  Probably some other recently (automatic) installed application or service is the cause, but I am not able to identify; I have installed nothing new for the last weeks.

Any help or advise is appreciated... thanks

Kiwi CatTools Failed to enter enable mode for Cisco FWSM and ASA

$

I'm backing up about 15 Cisco devices using Kiwi CatTools.  It's working perfectly for all of them except the two Firewall Services Modules (FWSM) and the two ASAs.  I get the warning "Failed to enter enable mode" in the Info Log.  I've verified, though, that I can login to the devices successfully from the server that runs CatTools.

I'm using the following settings:

Connect via: Direct connect

Method: SSH2

Port: 22

AAA Username

AAA Password

Initial login requires username/password

Enable mode uses AAA username/password fields

These settings work for the other devices but not the FWSM and ASA.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Bulk Device password change

Does anyone know if you can do bulk password changes for devices,groups and so forth for either VTY,enable,privilege,console, AAA username/passowrd,SSH username/password. My dilemna is we do password changes on a quartlerly basis and it's a pain to have to manually change each device password for 200 or so devices. I have been looking and could not find anything in the documentation or this forum. I hope this may be an option in future releases.

Script for HP/H3C Switches

$

Hi!

I'm trying to backup the config of our new HP (H3C) Switches (5120, 5800, 10500). The script I created out of the Custom.Template is not working. The prompt of the switches is "<SWITCHNAME>", not "SWITCHNAME>" as in Ciscos IOS. So the script returns the error "Did not receive expected prompt when entering Enable mode".

Has anybody managed to create a script that works with the HP H3C switches?
