WS5100 Login Issue

The Motorola (Symbol?) WS5100 wireless LAN controller has a Cisco CLI style interface - except for the login. On an initial SSH connection the prompt is "login as:" and the correct input is "cli" sans quotes. Then the traditional username and password prompts occur. I can't figure out a way to make Cattools input that first "cli" in the first prompt - it always tries to use the ssh credentials. I've used variations and set the pre-login stuff but with no success. Now I'm trying to do a custom device but I can't see anywhere to put a prelogin command to accommodate. Have any of you had any experience with this and can lend some ideas on how to proceed?

Linux Jump Server

Greetings,

 

I'm attempting to backup our devices that are accessible via a Linux server and according to the CatTools help section, sited bellow,  under "Connect via" this should be achievable:

 

For example, if your device is behind an access list, but a Linux box has access to that device, you can connect via the Linux box first, then launch a telnet or SSH session to the destination device from there.

And it's obvious looking at the debug log that when the back connects to the Linux server there are no issue, it's from the Linux to the Cisco device there is an issue and it appear that issue is with the ssh command it's passing:

It's attempting to use a Cisco ssh command and not a a Linux/Bash ssh syntax which looks like this username@<IP Address>

 

 

Am I missing something in the config?

did not receive expected response to command: show configuration command - (tag telecard)

I am using generic router.

I believe the problem starts when it starts to wait (WFMDRetVal=1 Waiting for: ":")

 

it does not have to wait but it should end/exit and save the configuration as all the configuration is already displayed above

 

why is it searching for " " ---- WFMDBuffer=" "

Config Backups of Cisco Small Business SG200-50

Hi

 

Has anyone been able to get an automated backup of the 200 series small business switches. I noted that there seems to be scripts for the SG300 but not the SG200.

 

Is there a reason that the SG200's don't work with Cattools?

HP Comware 7 Switches

I have been using CatTools successfully with Cisco and HP Procurve switches for some time now, but I can't get the software to successfully talk to a new Comware switch. Looking at the debug logs it looks like it isn't coping with the default Comware prompt format e.g. <sysname> or [sysname] for user or system view respectively. Any idea what I need to do to get it to work?

ps I have logged a call with SolarWinds but this is proving to be a soul destroying process. The case is flagged as not started after two days, I've left answer phone messages to no avail and listened to muzak for far too long.

Ubiquiti Device.ConnectivityTest.Login connection refused by remote host

I am currently trying to set up KiwiCatTools to take a Device.Backup.Running Config of my current Microwave Links which are NanoBridge M5, I have CatTools working for Dell /Cisco and HP Switches.

Following the advice in this discussion Re: Automate backup of config from Ubiquiti NanoBridge M5 (DD-WRT) , I set the devices as Linux.RedHat.Bash and have double checked all usernames and passwords are correct and have also added the prompt fields that appear when using SSH to access the links.

Can ping all devices from CatTools but Device.ConnectivityTest.Login always fails.

Firmware on nanobridges is XM.v5.6.7.

Cattools 3.11 (enterprise)

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Invalid username or password - HP 6120 XG

Hi  there,

 

I am running Cat Tools 3.3.17 and trying to backup all my device configs to one server.

 

I am having an issue with 2 HP switches - I receive a

Failed to connect to 172.x.x.x
  Reason: (30016) Invalid username or password reported by server, or bad
  private key.. Giving up after 3 connection attempts.

 

I am not too familiar with setting the device information - password, manager password etc. I have it for Direct connect via SSH2

 

Any help would be grateful!

Device.Backup.Running Config not comparing files

I have been running CatTools 3.4 Free on an XP machine for some time and found it brilliant.

I've recently replaced this machine with a Win 7 x64 machine and installed CatTools 3.6 Free.  Everything is working correctly except for the compare running configs which tells me that there is no change even when there is.  This is occurring for several Cisco and Juniper models and they worked fine under 3.4 (which unfortunately I don't have anymore).

I dont' know if it's a cause or a result but the Dated Configs folder remains empty and does not have any history of the changed configs either.  The version of the running config in the Config directory is always correct (ie it updates correctly when the activity runs) it's just the comparison and Dated Config that fails (or never occurs).

Please help, this is exactly what I used CatTools for.  I've tried a fresh install and created new activities to no avail.

Kiwi CAT Tools - Bintec/Funkwerk/Teldat Router

we are using the Kiwi CAT Tools 3.6 to backup Juniper Routers but we have also Bintec/Funkwerk/Teldat routers in use.

Maybe anybody of you have already add this kind of Router and can give me the Script-File please?

Backup Extreme Summit switches using TFTP commands

Hi, We have just installed some extreme switches and currently
it is backing up using model X450-24X running the show configuration command.

We are wanting to run the following below command and wondered whether this
would be possible if we had a variations file and running a TFTP server on
server where cat tools is installed.

 

tftp put x.x.x.x vr "VR-Default"primary.cfg **Saved file name***.cfg

 

The above command makes it easier to restore configs if we were to have issues.

 

We tried running Device.Backup.TFTP activity but it currently only supports Cisco Devices.

Need custom prompt for Cisco Wireless Lan Controller WLC2100

First prompt is the following:

login as: admin

 

Then the next prompt is the following:

User:admin
Password:


(Cisco Controller) >

 

 

Normally there is no "Login as:" prompt
They drop you straight to a User: prompt.

 

Also uses SSH2 for the connection.

Cat Tools Data Execution Prevention error

I am running Cat Tools on a Windows 2008 server.  On 11/21 there were multiple security and regular updates for windows that were pushed to this server.  Since that date I cannot get Cat Tools to load at all.  Running the program gives me a Microsoft error saying SolarWinds CatTools has stopped running.  Details of the problem show:

Problem signature:

  Problem even name:  BEX

  Application Name:  CatTools_Manager.exe

  Application Version:  3.6.0.0

The only options are to close the program or to check online for a solution and close the program.  Checking online for a solution says to help protect my computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed Cat Tools.  I went through the steps of turning on DEP for only Windows essential windows programs and also turned it on for all programs and listed Cattools as an exception.  Neither worked.  I also went through the steps of going to the command line and running bcdedit and turning off DEP totally, and also disabling PAE.  Rebooted the system and still the same error.  I am not sure how I am still getting a DEP error with DEP turned off.

Any way to fix this without going through the 38 various windows updates from 11/21 and uninstalling them to see which one(s) may have broken this?  I'm sure this will pop up again if I dont fix the root cause of it.

Cattols 3.10 to FortiOS 5.2.5 or 5.4 doesn´t work

Hi,

 

since we upgraded to FortiOS 5.2.5 or 5.4 Cattools gives us the error message "Failed to connect to XXX. Reason: No respone from remote host. Will try again."

If we connect to it with Putty we get a session.

 

Have debugged the SSH from FortiOS but no error messages is shown.

 

The debug in Cattools doesn´t give any errors either:

Scheduling timer not starting on restart

Hi,

I am having trouble get the activity scheduling time to start on machine boot.

I have Cattools running as a service and that starts fine if the machine is rebooted.

However the scheduling timer doesn't start even though I have checked the appropriate box on the "misc" tab ( "Option" and "setup") so I am having to start it manually everytime.

Anybody got any thoughts on the matter?

Script for HP/H3C Switches

Hi!

 

I'm trying to backup the config of our new HP (H3C) Switches (5120, 5800, 10500). The script I created out of the Custom.Template is not working. The prompt of the switches is "<SWITCHNAME>", not "SWITCHNAME>" as in Ciscos IOS. So the script returns the error "Did not receive expected prompt when entering Enable mode".

Has anybody managed to create a script that works with the HP H3C switches?

Nortel switch BS 450 and BS 470

Hi!

Is there a mean to backup config from Nortel BS450 and BS470? I don't know the fields to fill for these equipments (Enable password? AAA Password?) and what is the prompt? (Enter Password: ?)

I've tried many solutions but I've always got this log: "Did not received expected response after sending password".

 

Who has a solution to resolve this problem? I just want to backup a config from a bs450...

PROBLEM TO CONNECT TO HP PROCURVE 6120 XG SWITCH WITH CATTOOLS

Hi my friends,

 

I am running Cattools version 3.10.0, now I am trying to backup the running configuration a HP Procurve 6120 XG switch. I have tried to enter some combinations of values under the "Passwords" and "Prompts" tab, but always prompted error messages. I try to connect to the whitch by ssh and username is validate by radius. Can someone show me what value should I set under "Passwords" and "Prompts" tabs?  Below I will show you how I telnet to this switch via command prompt. Thanks in advance!
