The Kiwi CatTools service terminated unexpectedly.

Hey guys,

 

recently, our Kiwi CatTools Service crashes. This occurs randomly, we could not find the reason so far. We did not do any changes, except maybe changing an ip address or stuff.

 

The Windows Log sais the following:

 

System: The Kiwi CatTools service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 5 time(s).

Applic.: Faulting application CatTools_Service.exe, version 3.3.0.17, faulting module KiwiTFTP.dll, version 2.2.0.0, fault address 0x0000c98c.            or:

            Faulting application CatTools_Service.exe, version 3.3.0.17, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

 

Steps to resolve this issue:

 

- delete all devices, we don't need anymore (we have more than 100 devices)

- shrink the database

- reinstall kiwi cattools 3.3.17

- check timings of the jobs

- searched google and thwack for known issues

 

If you guys could help me that would be great, thx for your help. Maybe someone has similar problems. Maybe some recent Windows updates cause this error?

I was looking for some steps on how to migrate a Kiwi Cattools Pro 2.2.22 edition to new Kiwi Cattools 3.7 free edition or if it even possible to do considering the gap between versions?

SFE2000P CLI access

Linksys SFE2000P issue

 

To access the CLI and modify the configuration or any other command, the only method is to connect using a screen menu then to enter CTRL-Z

SSH to switch

First : login as:   --> I can enter what I want

Then a menu will display

Username : --> I enter the username the I need to enter <TAB> to move to

Password : --> I enter the password and finished by <Enter>

The main menu appears

Hi All

I am running Cat Tools 3.5, and I cannot get the back ups to work when I use Tacacs to login to the router/switch.

It works fine with local logins, the error message I get back is "Did not recieve username entry prompt from CiscoSwitchIOS" I have tried all viaritions by adding the details into VTY prompt SSH prompt(thou using telnet)

The tacacs login prompt is Username: which is what is expected and solarwinds should accept, any help would be appricated

F5.BigIP.TMSH Changes Pending

Whenever I use the F5.BigIP.TMSH Device Type and have CatTools login into a Device I end up with a (Changes Pending) when the device was (In Sync) before. I thought maybe it had something to do with the Activity I wrote but I just have the script login and logout and I get a Changes Pending. This is problematic. Anyone else experience the same problem.

Config Backups of Cisco Small Business SG200-50

Hi

 

Has anyone been able to get an automated backup of the 200 series small business switches. I noted that there seems to be scripts for the SG300 but not the SG200.

 

Is there a reason that the SG200's don't work with Cattools?

Fortigate With Vdom backup is not happening

Hi All ,

 

I am not able to take the backup of Fortigate  which has configured on VDOM environment .

Some Fortigate's I am able to take but Vdom configuration's are missing from the Backup .

Did any one faced this issues and what was the solutions you found on Kiwi Cat tools

activities with ssh conection issues

Hi,

 

I'm using Cattools 3.9 over Windows 2008 R2.

 

Problem is that all activities get stuck in the same point: after SSH fingerprint debug message (see attachment). Telnet is working fine.

 

SSH client is working fine because if i use Telnet/SSH to device it opens ssh client (putty), and i cant connect to the device without problem.

 

I had cattools 3.6 over windows 2003 and this were working fine. I have tried even exporting devices and activities and doesn't work either.

The free version stopped sending emails awhile back.

Just now looking for some help.

The SendMailLog states this:

And the MailQueue has items in it and the messages contain 25 MB Device.Backup.Running.Config.txt that looks to just be a log of all the times CatTools has ran and connected to my devices.

How do I clear that and/or limit the size of this log by overriding or similar?
Cannot see anything within Options that might help me.

How can I configure Cat Tools to connect to Dell SSH?

I am attempting to configure Cat Tools to backup some of our Dell PowerConnect 5548s running-configs over SSH, however I am running into problems when initiating the SSH session. Since the Dell SSH on the appliance is built on top of Telnet, it prompts for a useless field "Login as:" before asking for the local username and password. This first field has no effect on whether or not you can authenticate to the device.

I cannot find a way to put in a carriage return or line-feed command to make the session continue to the "Username: " prompt.

Kiwi Syslog is not working , I have tried to stop and start the Syslog service from the “Kiwi Syslog Service Manager” but did not have any desired effect. But this seems to be stopping intermittently

Automate backup of config from Ubiquiti NanoBridge M5 (DD-WRT)

Hey guys... I have a pair of Ubiquiti NanoBridge M5's that I use for a wireless bridge.  I currently use CatTools to backup my switches, routers, and firewalls.  I would like to backup the config of these M5's too... however, I have not been able to find a good script to make it work.  Has anyone had any experience with backing these up?  I believe they are DD-WRT based, so we may be able to use that as a place to start...

I am getting connection errors in the logs for a device that I can not find listed in the devices. It is like a ghost device that maybe existed once but now I cannot find any reference to it anywhere except the errors in logging. Has anyone else seen this and have a fix? The main script is encrypted so I have no way to do a search for a stale entry. Is there a way to rebuild the main script? Thank you.


Backup Device Config for Vyatta

We are looking to backup the configurations of a bunch of Vyatta type routers, same as we do for our Cisco routers.  We went plowing through the custom scripts and device documentation and aren't getting very far.  Since the Device.Backup.Running Config activity can backup different types of devices using different commands, it would appear that in the device would where the "show config" commands would be set up.  However, the Custom.Device.Template.txt.custom "script" has a lot more info that we are looking for and then it appears you have to bind together a main and client activity to the custom device?  We are just looking to have something exactly the same as Device.Backup.Running Config activity that will issue a "show configuration commands" for Vyatta instead of "show running-config" for Cisco.  We don't want to learn a new language to write scripts with and if we did, we wouldn't be paying over $200 per year for maintenance as we would then be writing our own software.

 

Is there a simple way to modify the backup running config activity to be able to work with Vyatta routers?

Cat Tools started generating the following error trying to backup any device:

I slew of patches were recently installed. I tried uninstalling KB967723 as it seemed the most likely culprit, but the issue remains.

Using CatTools 3.10 (Enterprise) to backup a Unity Express module from its host router.

I enabled capture mode, and the debug log shows that the session connection works, and prompts for usersname and password which are also entered successfully. This returns "Password OK", but at this point (assuming I'm reading the log correctly) CatTools seems to fail to recognise that the login was successful. Instead it waits around 30 seconds before entering the username again (this time at the enable prompt), which returns the error "Invalid input detected at '^' marker". It tries this once more, before waiting for the connection to timeout. I've attached a copy of the log (usernames, passwords and identifying info changed or removed).

 

Can anyone shed any light on what I've missed? I'm guessing there must be some way to make it recognise that it's connected, I tried playing with some of the prompts and variations but got nowhere. Any help greatly appreciated!

HP H3C Devices backup Running config

Hi,

we use the Huawei also for the H3C switches, but ""screen-length disable" is missing when executing the "display current-configuration".

Now you can see the some strange behavior in the output and makes complicated.

Kiwi Cattools is stopping after trying to execute it.  Error windows pops up with message: "Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."

Tried to unistall and reinstall the product (Kiwi CatTools 3.4.0) without success.  CatTools has been running since years without any problems, until now.  Probably some other recently (automatic) installed application or service is the cause, but I am not able to identify; I have installed nothing new for the last weeks.

Any help or advise is appreciated... thanks
