Arris E6000 CMTS compare

$

Hi Guys,

Newby Cattools user here, well I've used the free version many years ago now, but I now got the registared version :-)

Anyway I've managed to get Cattools to grab and compare configs for 3 Cisco Devices and Motorola CMTS, and i've even got it to grab and compare for my lab Arris E6000 CMTS (by using the Motorola CMTS script.

But every time the schedule runs the program detects changes in the E6000 config: -

show running-config show running-config 1
2 # ChassisType=<E6000> shelfName=<Arris CER CMTS> shelfSwVersion=<CER_V01.01.00.0135> timeGenerated=<Fri Aug 15 12:10:21 2014> # ChassisType=<E6000> shelfName=<Arris CER CMTS> shelfSwVersion=<CER_V01.01.00.0135> timeGenerated=<Fri Aug 15 12:16:25 2014>2
3 configure configure3
4 banner login banner login

How can I stop this? it's config line 2 "# ChassisType=<E6000> shelfName=<Arris CER CMTS> shelfSwVersion=<CER_V01.01.00.0135> timeGenerated=<Fri Aug 15 12:10:21 2014>" and the timeGenerated part that is causing the compare error.

Do I need a new script for this device?

BTW Arris now own the Motorola CMTS product range.

Best regards

Steve.

Problem with a Cat Tools 3.10 (Enterprise) activity - Cisco SF300 switch

$

Hello,

We use CatTools 3.10 (Enterprise) to modify the configuration or send commands remotely to our switches.

Everything works fine with our Cisco 2950, 2960, 3560, 3750...

But the issue we are currently facing is all about another kind of Cisco switch, the Cisco SmallBusiness SF300.

Since the 3.10 version supports Small Business switches, we can define it in the "Device Type" field of a Deivce, along with the "Model" (which is 300).

The rest of the configuration of the new device is the same as we used for the other Cisco switches (Method : SSH Port : 22, Connect via  : Direct Connect, etc...)

The activity is define as "Device.CLI.Modify.Config" and aim to change (S)NTP settings.

The connection to the SF300 switch is OK but then there is a problem when entering the "configure terminal" command (output info logs attached) :

"Waiting for an echo of conf t command

Waiting for a response to : conf t

Did not receive expected response to command : conf t

Commands resultts : 0 of 9, 1

Aborting command entry due to command error

Waiting for an echo of <Ctrl-Z> command

Exiting config mode

Did not receive echo of <Ctrl-Z> command"

I've already tried to define the activty as "Device.CLI.Send.commands" and to send a "conf t" as first command but the same problem happens.

How to disable smtp server function

Hi,

I am probably missing something fundamental..

I am running quite a few kiwi cattools instances, and for some reason on my 3.4 (Enterprise) version the smtp function is complaining it cannot find my smtp server.

Which is not all that suprising as i don't want to use a mailserver.

2015-02-2406:25:22Local0.Error127.0.0.1KiwiCatToolsServiceMailerror:Unabletoconnectto127.0.0.1:

The message is explainable as there is no SMTP server listening on localhost.

However i would like to disable any SMTP functionality, but i am unable, it just wont let me un-select [setup/email/Primairy SMTP server Setup.

when i try to unselect the "Use this server" box it returns with an error "Please select an email server to use".

So, how to disable smtp client functionality in cattools 3.4

Thank you in advance,

Thijn

Did not receive expected response to command: show running-config

I have a question, I have 2 Cisco WiSM  (Cisco 6500 blade) that I am trying to use Cat tools to backup the config files on a regular schedule. I have run into the following error when trying to run the activity:  "Did not receive expected response to command: configshow" and then Cat tools disconnects from the switch. I used telnet to issue the show running-config command and what I noticed is right after the show running-config command is issued the switch prompts with: "Press Enter to continue or <CTRL-Z> to abort"  or "--More-- or (q)uit " and sits there until there is user intervension. How can I automate the CR to continue command so I can use Cattools to pull the configuration of these switches? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

we have a problem with this setup ->

<NEWSESSION CatTools 3.10.0 23.10.2015 15:41:59>

<PROTOCOL=SSH2>

<DEVICE TYPE=IronPort.Security.General>

<ACTIVITY TYPE=Device.Backup.Running Config>

This is what gets backed up ->

Choose the password option:

1. Mask passwords (Files with masked passwords cannot be loaded using

loadconfig command)

2. Encrypt passwords

3. Plain passwords

Now my question. How can I get the tools to choose option 2 and include the output in my backup?

Hi All,

Has anyone got KiwiCatTools backing up config's with the above switches that are running AW+ OS?

I've tried device of ATI.Router.general and get "Failed to receive '# SYSTEM configuration' line in device config file" and if I try Cisco.router.general (apparently the new AlliedWare + is Cisco like...) I get "Login failed"

Cheers

We have 50 remote offices with Cisco 1801's. I have the exciting job of establishing their serial numbers :-/

Can kiwi help. I guess the output I'm after comes from the 'show inventory' command. Or is there a MIB which can be installed into Orion which can be run to do the same job. The information i'm specifically after is serial number.

Scheduler Timer, what is for?

$

I have never used this software before and today while at my internship they asked me to put in the backup configurations for some new Cisco routers that we are installing at our branch locations. My mentor who seems to be the only one that knows about this software is on vacation and the other guy here doesn't know either. I finished what I had to do for our back up configurations and upon exiting I came across a message that read as follows:

The scheduler timer is not turned on. In this state the CatTools service will not run any scheduled activities.

Would you like CatTools to start the scheduler timer before exiting?

Then I have a yes or no option to click on. My gut instinct tells me to click no and to leave it alone but then again I am not sure if it stopped because I was in the program doing something or if it may have been stopped manually. Does anyody have a suggestion???

Does someone have an idea what could be the problem? It should run, actually, as we have other netscreen firewalls that work fine with the command get conf.

Config:

- Kiwi CatTools 3.3.17 Enterprise (Device.Backup Running Config)

- OS: Windows Server 2003

- Device: Firewall NetScreen SSG5.

I'll highly appreciate getting your quick feedback for resolving this problem.

Thank you in advance,

Report version table script cant login to device when many devices selected

Hello Guys,

I created 2 Activities that are identical to each other, they run the Report Version Table script.

Activity A has 6 devices selected and Activity B has 120 devices selected.

When i run Activity B a few of the devices fail with the following error:

Failed to connect to 10.10.10.1. Reason: (30016) Invalid username or password reported by server, or bad private key.. Giving up after 3 connection attempts.

So i created activity A with the 6 devices that fail and when i run that all 6 of them work.

Both scripts can use Maximum available threads.

I set the log level to debug and above and checked the info log file.
